According to the most recent data from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), more than 600 Colorado-based federal workers have unemployment claims underway as the Trump administration carries out sweeping layoffs in an effort to slash federal spending. By the department’s count, workers in Denver County make up the majority of those claims.

The CDLE has put up a special resource page specifically for laid off federal employees, but the job market was already tough. So, we’re sharing some other local resources for anyone on the job hunt.

Get Hands-On Help at a Workforce Center

The CDLE has Workforce Centers located throughout the state where job seekers have free access to computers and staff support, plus services and programs tailored to resume writing, interviewing skills, career counseling, and more.

Find a Local Job Fair or Networking Event

The CDLE also maintains an exhaustive calendar of virtual and in-person events that often include job fairs, hiring events, networking opportunities, and career building workshops.

Keep Your Search Area Specific

Sure, there’s Indeed and LinkedIn and ZipRecruiter, but Andrew Hudson’s Jobs List and Luke’s Circle are two trusted job search sites tailored specifically to opportunities in the metro Denver area and allow you to filter your search by industry and geographic area.

Have a Special Situation?

The Colorado Department of Human Services has a variety of special programs to assist job seekers who have other factors at play, such as SNAP recipients, at-risk community members, seniors, and those facing other barriers to employment.
