After a summer of Shakespeare in parks (and parking lots!), local theater companies are launching all-new productions for the fall season. Here’s what’s on my must-see list:

🗳️ The Minutes

“Parks & Recreation” meets “The Twilight Zone”? I’m in! Not only is this Curious Theatre’s first play under new artistic director Jada Suzanne Dixon — and one of the largest shows in its history — it’s also a rare comedy from a theater company known more for their heavy-hitting dramas. (Running now through Oct. 14)

💃 Cabaret

Whether “Schitt’s Creek” was your introduction to this musical (✋) or you’re a fan of the 1972 movie, this lavish, sensual, and heartbreaking story set in pre-WWII Berlin is not one to miss, and I know it’s in great hands at Vintage Theatre. (Running now through Oct. 22)

🦅 Cuauhtémoczin

Control Group Productions is teaming up with Diego Florez-Arroyo on his innovative new play that combines Aztec mythology and a modern prison drama, as well as impressionism and multimedia. Through this fresh work, the longtime artist and first-time playwright asks the question: “Where does the spirit of the warrior live?” (Running Oct. 6-14)

🔎 Murder for Two

Who doesn’t like a murder mystery musical comedy where more than a dozen characters are played by just two actors? Head to Parker Arts for this playful nod to old-fashioned murder mysteries. (Running  Oct. 27-Nov. 19)
