Tonight, City Cast Denver is helping moderate an exciting mayoral forum with a spicy twist — candidates Mike Johnston and Kelly Brough will answer questions about their bids for mayor, while eating progressively spicier hot wings (à la YouTube sensation “Hot Ones”). You can find out more about the event in our What To Do section below 👇
In honor of the deliciously spicy special event, I’m sharing some of the best hot sauces in the Mile High, according to our readers and listeners:
🔥 Kristen K.: “Female-owned and LGBTBE-certified, Merfs Condiments offers 10 styles of organic, small-batch, high-quality hot sauces. Founder and Louisiana native Kelly Schexnaildre and her team create cheeky and fun sauces like the most-popular Electric Lime, Fool's Paradise, Jamberry Sriracha, and Peaches & Scream.”
🔥 Tila: “My absolute favorite hot sauce is Oso Rojo. I eat it on chips and salsa, crying the whole time, but it’s delicious.”
🔥 Kate V.: “Sauce Leopard: Their Seventh Reaper Sauce actually made it onto the infamous Hot Ones. And Blonde Beard: I love them because they partner with Upslope brewing on their sauces. Their Holy Hell Buffalo Sauce is made with scotch bonnet peppers.”
🔥 Kenny: “My favorite hot sauce is Danny Cash Hot Sauce. He has a wide variety of hot sauces — BBQ sauces, and even Bloody Mary mixes and mustards.”
