In last week’s neighborhood guide, I wrote up a simple snapshot of Lakewood. But there’s SO much more to Denver’s western neighbor, so I asked you all to send me your favorite Lakewood locales:
Dan K. recommends:
- 🍺 Tom's Brew Shop: “For all the homebrewers out there, they've got an impressive inventory, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and even carry all-in-one kombucha kits!”
Alan B. says:
- 🌳 Crown Hill Open Space: “It’s my go-to spot for a quiet walk any time of year, filled with seasonal birds, families fishing and walking around the large lake, and visiting the wildlife preserve.”
- 🌯 Señor Burritos: “Makes the best chile relleno burrito around, and their green chile is worth exploring.”
Ben C. added:
- 🥪 Carmine Lonardo's: “An Italian deli institution, been here since 1976. The folks who work there are incredibly sweet and they do all sorts of specials for holidays as well. It's truly a hidden gem!”
- 🥐 Panaderia Rodriguez: “A delicious bakery that also somewhat secretly has what I consider to be the best menudo in town.”
- 🇩🇰 Taste of Denmark: “A well-known spot for amazing European pastries — bringing a mixed dozen in is the fastest way to ingratiate yourself with coworkers in Lakewood.”
- ☕ Sweet Bloom Coffee: “Award-winning coffee that is slowly growing in popularity and can be seen in more and more cafes around the city. I cannot recommend it enough.”
Jorian S. suggests:
- 🍺 WestFax Brewing Co.: “Killer lagers and IPAs of all kinds. (The Yabby Hut and Pop CULTure Empire are also in the same strip mall, and both are great.)”
- 😍 Other favorites: The Colorado Cookie Company, Ballmer Peak Distillery, Green Mountain Beer Co., and Granny Scott's Pie Shop.
